The Importance Of Drawing Up A Will And Protecting Your Family

Get a will.

I know, I know. You're thinking wait a sec, Jee doesn't have one so why is she telling us to get one.

Well, I learned a lot doing this story and I learned that everyone 18 and older with assets should draw up a will.

It's so important to protect your estate and your family.

Les Kotzer is a wills lawyer and he gives us three good tips:

1) Family Law Clause

This clause allows you to exclude your son-in-law or daughter-in-law from the will just in case your children get a divorce. This will prevent your inheritance from being split with them.

2) Marriage and Separation

Marriage will revoke a will. A separation does not.

Marriage will revoke a will. A separation does not.

Keep telling yourself this. Even if you are on your second marriage, that partnership will revoke your will.

3) If you have kids, GET A WILL!!

I can't stress this enough.

God forbid something happens to you or your spouse, you need to name a guardian and an executor for your children. You need to protect them.

Check out my story.

After all this, trust me I am going to draw up a will.
